Taking advantage of its ‘open door’, most of the NF’s Tower Hamlets branch broke away and joined forces with the BNP. Of course, at the time, the true significance of this would be lost on Tyndall, but as it turned out it was this branch that made a decisive contribution to the party’s first electoral victory – in September 1993 in Millwall, within the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
